We're seeking a talented student developer to join our team working on an advanced AI content generation platform. This role offers hands-on experience with modern web technologies, AI integration, and SEO content optimization systems.
What you will be working on
You'll be working on our AI-powered content generation platform that helps businesses create SEO-optimized articles. Here's what you'll be involved with:
- Development of the application.
- Configuration of database tables, authentication, security and front-end, back-end communication.
- AI prompt optimization to improve output.
- Version testing and control.
First week
- Introduction to 6th Man’s culture, mission, and the AI content platform.
- Set up local dev environment (Next.js, Supabase, GitHub, Vercel, etc.).
- Walkthrough of project structure, CI/CD pipeline, and coding standards.
- Overview of database schema, authentication flow, and security policies.
- Training in prompt engineering basics and OpenAI API usage.
- First mini-task: fix a simple bug or add a small UI improvement to learn workflow.
- Shadowing code reviews to see team expectations.
First month
- Implement small backend endpoints.
- Configure database tables for content storage & user metadata.
- Learn to write safe queries and apply Supabase Row-Level Security (RLS).
- Build small UI components in Next.js (dashboard views, job status indicators).
- Work on prompt optimization experiments with supervision.
- Add logging and error handling for API calls.
- Take ownership of one complete “small feature”.
After 3 months
- Develop more complex features.
- Optimize AI prompts for different content types with measurable improvements.
- Collaborate on database schema changes & migrations.
- Contribute to documentation (developer onboarding or feature guides).
- Lead development of a feature from spec → implementation → testing → deployment.
- Work on SEO-focused functionality (internal linking, structured data outputs).
- Help monitor platform performance & error tracking with Sentry.
- Participate in roadmap discussions, suggesting improvements to the AI pipeline.
- End of 3 months: deliver a fully functioning feature in production and present learnings.
After
- After completing your education a full-time offer will be considered.
Who are we looking for?
- You speak both Dutch and English (bonus for German and/or French).
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with React.js and Next.js framework.
- Familiarity with TypeScript and strong JavaScript fundamentals.
- Basic understanding of database concepts (preferably PostgreSQL/Supabase)
- Knowledge of REST API development and consumption.
- Ability to work with existing codebases and follow established patterns.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Weekly contribution of 10+ hours to the project.
Nice to Have
- Experience with OpenAI API or other large language model integrations.
- Knowledge of SEO principles and content optimization.
- Experience with Tailwind CSS.
- Understanding of serverless functions and edge computing.
- Familiarity with token usage tracking and cost optimization.
- Experience with TypeScript interfaces and type safety.
- Version control with Git.
- Interest in AI-assisted content creation and prompt engineering.
Responsibilities
- Assist with feature development for our article generation platform.
- Help maintain and improve existing API routes and components.
- Contribute to UI/UX improvements for content management interfaces.
- Assist with testing and debugging across the application.
- Document code and processes for future reference.
- Collaborate with team members on optimization efforts.
