We’re looking for a freelance backend developer to join our senior team and help build the infrastructure behind high-performance websites, web apps, and automation tools. You’ll work on both international client projects and internal products we’ve built to give us (and our clients) an edge.
This isn’t a full-time role, it’s flexible, project-based work. But when you’re on, you’ll be working on meaningful, high-stakes projects alongside a lean, expert team. No endless hierarchies, no “just follow the spec.” You’ll have space to shape the solution and make a measurable impact.
What you will be working on
- Backend development for websites, apps, and automation tools
- Integrating APIs and third-party services into scalable systems
- Improving performance, stability, and security for client platforms
- Building and optimizing CMS integrations (WordPress, headless, custom)
- Collaborating with front-end devs, designers, and performance marketers
- Prototyping and iterating quickly based on feedback and data
Your growth plan
Within 1 month:
- You’ve shipped your first backend feature for an international client project.
- You’ve improved stability or performance in one of our internal tools.
Within 3 months:
- You’re independently delivering backend features from brief to deployment.
- You’ve introduced improvements to our existing architecture or processes.
Within 6 months:
- Your work is directly driving faster load times, better conversions, or more efficient automation.
- You’re the go-to person for backend solutions on client and internal projects.
Who are we looking for?
- You speak both Dutch and English (bonus for German and/or French)
- Strong backend fundamentals (Node.js, PHP, or similar)
- Experience with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and caching strategies
- Knows their way around API integrations and webhooks
- Bonus points for cloud/DevOps experience (AWS, Vercel, Docker…)
- Can think in systems, not just scripts
- Works well under pressure and with shifting priorities
- Highly independent, but thrives in collaboration with smart people
- Comfortable working async with international clients and our remote team
