Lightspeed to Shopify, without losing the till that works.
Move the webshop off Lightspeed eCom and onto Shopify, and keep your Lightspeed tills if they do the job. Products, customers, orders and URLs come across, and the redirect map is the first deliverable rather than the last fix.
A strong till, with a webshop attached.
You picked Lightspeed for the shop floor. Purchase orders per supplier, serial numbers, work orders, supplier catalogs, one vendor for till, webshop and payments, and a Belgian phone number. For a store that sells mostly in person, that is a good deal. The webshop came with it.

Lightspeed is great for POS, but webshop growth will be a lot easier and faster through Shopify.
Then online grew, and the webshop did not.
Most of what we hear is not about the till. It is about the webshop and the contract.
Lightspeed eCom caps a product at 100 variants, and the catalog at 15,000 variants once it is linked to the till. You get 6 filters, up to 7 languages, one domain and product URLs that end in .html.
- Variant caps
- Filters
- Themes
- .html URLs
One domain and a fixed language set make it hard to run the Netherlands, France or Germany as separate markets with their own prices, currencies and hreflang.
- Markets
- Currencies
- VAT
- hreflang
Lightspeed Payments is pushed hard, using another provider costs a monthly fee, and Belgian card rates are only shown in a quote.
- Card fees
- Lock-in
- Monthly fee
- Quote only
Lightspeed's growth engines are retail in North America and hospitality in Europe. E-commerce is run for efficiency, so a Belgian webshop gets maintenance, not new features.

Keep the till, or move it too?
We will tell you honestly. For some shops the right answer is to keep Lightspeed in store.
Keep Lightspeed in store
The webshop moves to Shopify and stays linked to your Lightspeed till.
- Your store customers pay with Bancontact (Shopify POS cannot take Bancontact in store)
- You rely on serial numbers, work orders or landed costs
- You run horeca and need a certified witte kassa
Move everything to Shopify
Shopify POS Pro replaces the Lightspeed tills, on one cutover date.
- One catalog, one customer list and one stock figure for shop and webshop
- Card payments without Bancontact work for your customers
- Native purchase orders, transfers and stock counts cover what you need
Not sure which one fits your shops? That is what the intro call is for.
This is not our first replatform.

What moves, and what does not.
Three answers, because one list of everything that comes across is a promise nobody can check.
Your shops keep selling throughout. The tills stay connected while the online store moves, so the stock on the shop floor and on the website matches from launch day.
Comes across
Exported from Lightspeed, cleaned, and loaded into Shopify.
- Products, variants and categories
- Stock levels per location
- Customer accounts and addresses
- Order history, as far as Lightspeed exports it
- Content pages, blog and translations
Rebuilt on Shopify
Built for the online store, and connected back to the shop floor.
- Storefront and checkout
- Search, filters and navigation
- Markets, currencies and VAT
- URL structure and a redirect for every .html URL
- Live link to your Lightspeed till from day one
- Point of sale (conditional)
Left behind
The eCom half of the bundle, and nothing on the shop floor.
- eCom templates and theme limits
- Variant, filter and language caps
- The eCom subscription
- One-domain setup

What every Lightspeed retailer asks before moving.
Not seeing your question here? A free intro call will settle it, no obligation.
Yes. Lightspeed Retail X-Series has a native Shopify integration in which Lightspeed stays the source for products and stock. Price books, promotions, loyalty and gift cards do not sync. R-Series needs a third-party connector. We confirm which one you run, and what syncs, in the extraction audit.
No. Bancontact works online on Shopify, but not for in-person sales in Shopify POS. If most of your store customers pay with Bancontact, we will usually advise keeping Lightspeed at the till.
The webshop or online ordering, possibly. The till, no. Horeca needs a certified witte kassa (GKS 2.0), and Lightspeed Restaurant is certified while Shopify POS is not. Keep the certified till.
Not if the redirects are right. Lightspeed URLs end in .html and Shopify uses /products/ and /collections/, so every URL changes. We map and redirect every one before launch and monitor indexing after.
Products, customers and stock export fine. How much order history comes across depends on your Lightspeed product and plan, which is why the extraction audit comes first. The limits are documented in writing before you commit.
For one store with a webshop, list prices are almost the same: Lightspeed Retail Essentieel is €149 a month, and Shopify Grow plus POS Pro is €148 a month (both on yearly billing). The difference is in card fees and apps, and the audit lists both before you decide.
Yes. The tills keep running throughout. Only the online store moves, on one agreed date.
