We migrated T'Hooft Buitengewoon from a split setup, a WordPress base site (thooft.com) and a Tilroy webshop plus POS (shop.thooft.com), to a single Shopify store that runs both e-commerce and point of sale. On top of it we built a fully custom theme structured around three worlds: Inspire, a visual-led catalogue, Shop, a webshop handling more than 100,000 product variations, and Studio, for clients who want T'Hooft to design their outdoor space. Each world has its own distinct look, yet transition animations tie them into one seamless whole that guides visitors from inspiration to purchase.

The work

Overview

T'Hooft Buitengewoon: one Shopify home for three worlds

T'Hooft Buitengewoon lived across two disconnected systems: a WordPress base site at thooft.com and a Tilroy webshop with in-store POS at shop.thooft.com. Two platforms meant two content models, two stock realities and a brand experience that broke every time a visitor crossed from the main site into the shop. We brought everything together into a single Shopify store that powers both the online storefront and the physical point of sale, then rebuilt the entire front end from scratch.

The challenge

Consolidate a WordPress site and a Tilroy webshop plus POS into one platform, without losing SEO value or product data, while giving T'Hooft a storefront that matches the premium, design-led nature of their outdoor living brand. On top of that, the catalogue is large and complex: more than 100,000 product variations that all needed to migrate cleanly and stay manageable.

A custom theme built around three worlds

Rather than one flat webshop, we designed the experience as three connected worlds, each with its own look and role, tied together by smooth transition animations that guide the visitor from browsing to buying.

Inspire: a visual-led catalogue built for discovery, heavy on imagery and mood, where visitors explore the T'Hooft universe before thinking about products.

Shop: the full webshop, handling 100,000+ product variations with fast, filterable browsing and a checkout that works hand in hand with the in-store POS.

Studio: a dedicated space for clients who want T'Hooft to design their outdoor area, positioning the brand as a service, not just a shop.

Each world has a distinct visual identity, but they read as one coherent whole. The transitions between them are deliberate, so moving from inspiration to product to design service never feels like leaving the site.

Custom apps

To support the experience, we built three custom apps tailored to T'Hooft:

Wishlist app: lets customers save and revisit the pieces they love across sessions.

Mood quiz app: guides visitors to the right style and products based on their taste, turning inspiration into direction.

Rewards program app: a custom loyalty program that rewards repeat customers and ties the online and in-store relationship together.

Marketing and automation

We set up Klaviyo for email flows and campaigns, feeding it structured order and customer data so automations fire on the right moments. Behind the scenes, n8n automations connect the moving parts and keep data flowing between systems without manual work.

The result

T'Hooft went from two fragmented platforms to a single Shopify environment that runs their webshop, their POS and their brand story in one place. The three-world theme gives them a storefront as considered as the outdoor spaces they create, the custom apps deepen the customer relationship, and the automation layer keeps everything running quietly in the background.

The approach

How we got there

The decisions that shaped this project, in the order we made them. Open one to see what it answered.

WordPress base site and Tilroy webshop plus POS, merged into a single Shopify environment that runs both online sales and the in-store register.

A custom theme built as three connected spaces, Inspire, Shop and Studio, stitched together with transition animations that carry visitors from browsing to buying.

A large, complex catalogue moved without data loss and structured to stay fast, filterable and manageable.

A wishlist, a mood quiz and a rewards program, all built in-house to deepen the customer relationship and guide people to the right pieces.

Klaviyo email flows fed with structured data, and n8n automations keeping information moving between systems without manual work.
