Mollie fees in 2026 (and what they mean on Shopify)
Mollie fees in 2026: rates per payment method, payouts and terminals, plus what Mollie really costs on Shopify including the third-party fee.

Mollie fees in 2026: for online payments you pay no monthly or setup fees, only a rate per successful transaction. For example 1.80% + EUR 0.25 for European consumer cards, EUR 0.32 for iDEAL | Wero and EUR 0.39 for Bancontact. On Shopify, a third-party fee of 0.2% to 2% comes on top.
Below you find all rates, the costs for payouts and terminals, and what Mollie costs in total on a Shopify store. Read more about payments on Shopify in our guide to Shopify payments. Rates checked in November 2026 on the Belgian Mollie pricing page.
Mollie rates per payment method
You only pay for successful transactions. These are the standard rates for online payments:
| Payment method | Mollie rate |
|---|---|
| Visa, Mastercard: EEA consumer card | 1.80% + EUR 0.25 |
| Visa, Mastercard: business card (EEA) | 2.90% + EUR 0.25 |
| Visa, Mastercard: outside the EEA | 3.25% + EUR 0.25 |
| American Express | 2.90% + EUR 0.25 |
| Bancontact | EUR 0.39 |
| iDEAL | Wero | EUR 0.32 |
| Wero within Belgium | EUR 0.39 |
| Klarna (Belgium and the Netherlands) | 2.99% + EUR 0.45 |
| in3 | 3.99% + EUR 0.95 |
| Riverty and Billink | 2.99% + EUR 0.35 |
| PayPal | PayPal fees + EUR 0.10 |
| KBC/CBC and Belfius payment button | 0.90% + EUR 0.25 |
| SEPA bank transfer / SEPA direct debit | EUR 0.25 / EUR 0.35 |
| Meal, eco and gift vouchers | Voucher + 0.50% + EUR 0.50 |
So every method has its own transaction fees. On an EUR 80 order you pay EUR 1.69 for a consumer card, EUR 0.32 for iDEAL | Wero and EUR 2.84 for Klarna. With buy now, pay later methods such as in3 it rises to EUR 4.14.
A note on Bancontact: elsewhere on the Belgian pricing page Mollie also shows 1.40% + EUR 0.25. With our Belgian clients we see the fixed rate of EUR 0.39 in practice. Check the rate for your own account before you calculate.
Payouts, refunds and chargebacks
Payouts: up to 5 payouts per month are free, then EUR 0.25 per payout (below EUR 500,000 revenue per year). If you choose daily payouts, count on about EUR 4 per month.
Payouts in another currency: an extra cost on top of the payout.
Refunds and chargebacks: the pricing page lists no rate for these. For comparison: Shopify Payments charges EUR 15 per chargeback in Belgium and the Netherlands, refunded if you win.
Monthly fees, terminals and business account
There are no monthly fees for online payments. Mollie's plans are about selling in store with a payment terminal: Pay as you go costs nothing per month (local debit card 1.50%), Pro costs EUR 20 per month with lower card rates and, according to Mollie, pays off from about EUR 2,400 revenue per month. A Tap terminal costs EUR 95, a mobile or fixed terminal EUR 350. The business account costs EUR 9 per month, with 12 months free. If you sell in store with Shopify POS, you use Shopify's card readers and rates.
What does Mollie cost on Shopify?
On Shopify, every Mollie transaction costs the Mollie rate plus a Shopify third-party fee. Shopify charges that fee on the full order value and does not return it on a refund. This is what it looks like for one EUR 80 order:
| Method (EUR 80 order) | Mollie + Basic (2%) | Mollie + Grow (1%) | Shopify Payments (Basic / Grow) |
|---|---|---|---|
| EEA consumer card | EUR 3.29 | EUR 2.49 | EUR 1.85 / 1.69 |
| Bancontact | EUR 1.99 | EUR 1.19 | EUR 0.39 / 0.39 |
| iDEAL | Wero | EUR 1.92 | EUR 1.12 | EUR 0.29 / 0.29 |
| Klarna | EUR 4.44 | EUR 3.64 | EUR 2.74 / 2.74 |
| in3 | EUR 5.74 | EUR 4.94 | Not available |
On Advanced the fee is 0.6% and on Plus 0.2%. Per month it adds up fast. A Belgian store on Grow with 1,000 orders of EUR 80 (60% Bancontact, 30% card, 10% Klarna) pays EUR 1,015 per month with Shopify Payments. With Mollie the rate itself is about the same, but EUR 800 of Shopify fees comes on top: EUR 1,825 per month in total, or about EUR 9,700 more per year.
The difference comes almost entirely from the Shopify fee. How much that weighs in your total budget, you can read in the costs of a Shopify store. The full trade-off is in Shopify Payments vs Mollie.
When are Mollie's extra costs worth it?
You need a method Shopify Payments does not have, such as in3, Riverty, Billink, the KBC/CBC or Belfius payment button or meal vouchers. Keep Shopify Payments as your main provider and only pay the fee on that method.
You sell on several platforms and want one payment provider.
Your backend or accounting already runs fully on Mollie and switching costs more than the fee.
Shopify Payments does not accept your industry.
For Klarna you rarely need Mollie anymore: Klarna is part of Shopify Payments in Belgium and the Netherlands. How that works is explained in Klarna and buy now, pay later on Shopify.
For smaller stores, a trusted backend or an accounting integration often matters more than a few cents per order. At large volumes the difference quickly grows to thousands of euros per month. Negotiating with Mollie only pays off at substantial revenue. We advise against passing surcharges on to your customers: have that checked legally first.
Considering another provider? Compare Mollie vs Stripe or see all options in the best payment provider for Shopify. Stripe as a separate provider on Shopify is usually not possible in Belgium and the Netherlands; read why in Shopify Payments vs Stripe.
What we learned in the Shopify Community
EUR 40 order: what goes to Mollie and what to Shopify? A merchant used Mollie for iDEAL because it would not activate through Shopify Payments. A later reply did the math: on EUR 40, about EUR 0.80 Shopify fee and EUR 0.32 for Mollie. That matches 2% on Basic plus the iDEAL | Wero rate. Source: Shopify Community, September 2025 to May 2026.
Klarna via Mollie: almost 5% in total. A Dutch merchant found Klarna via Mollie with the extra 2% too expensive. Partly outdated: Klarna is now part of Shopify Payments, without a Shopify fee. For in3 and Riverty it still applies. Source: Shopify Community, 2023 to November 2024.
Passing Mollie fees on to customers. A Plus merchant wanted to add a surcharge per method. A partner warned that surcharges are restricted or banned in the EU for many methods. Our view: don't, and have it checked legally first. Source: Shopify Community, June to August 2025.
Mollie money arrives separately. A Belgian merchant looked in Shopify for the bank account used for Mollie Bancontact. Shopify's answer: Mollie money runs outside Shopify, you manage bank details and payouts in the Mollie dashboard. Source: Shopify Community, June 2024.

We put your real Mollie statement next to what Shopify Payments would cost, Shopify fee included, and show the difference per month and per year. If Mollie stays the best choice for some of your methods, we set up the combination so you only pay the fee where you have to. What people ask about this.
It depends on the method: 1.80% + EUR 0.25 for EEA consumer cards, EUR 0.32 for iDEAL | Wero, EUR 0.39 for Bancontact and 2.99% + EUR 0.45 for Klarna in Belgium and the Netherlands. Checked November 2026.
Not for online payments. The Pro plan of EUR 20 a month is for payment terminals in store, and the business account costs EUR 9 a month after 12 free months.
EUR 0.32 per transaction for iDEAL | Wero. Through Shopify Payments the same payment costs EUR 0.29, or EUR 0.15 on Plus, with no extra Shopify fee.
Yes. Shopify charges a third-party fee of 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus on transactions through Mollie, on top of the Mollie rate.
Mollie offers volume pricing on request. The threshold isn't consistent on its site: EUR 50,000 or EUR 100,000 a month. Negotiating only pays off at substantial revenue.
